    Establishing a Collaboration Model for BIM Training Program in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET): A Vietnam case study

    This study presents an institution-industry collaboration model for BIM training with a case study of a TVET college in Vietnam. The model focuses on the most needed and practical skills to fit with the actual requirements of the labour market. It also helps to educate BIM technicians that meet the industry standards in a reasonable training time. In consultation with the industrial partners, the College defined six learning outcomes and 18 competencies for the BIM program to ensure that students can perform the BIM technician job when finishing the program. The findings present the benefits of the collaboration training model that could provide a better learning environment for students and help to narrow the gap between educational outcomes and industry needs. Furthermore, a questionnaire survey was conducted targeting the industrial partners and graduated students to assess the importance of the designed competencies. Feedback from the participants shows that collaboration and self-development skills are the most critical skills for the BIM technicians, so the BIM program should develop related courses aligned with the learning outcomes.

    How does biodiversity risk exposure affect corporate regulatory intensity

    This paper investigates the impact of biodiversity risk on corporate regulatory intensity of firms in the United States during 2007-2020. Using text-based measures of biodiversity risk and regulatory intensity extracted from corporate disclosures and public media, we provide empirical evidence of a positive impact of biodiversity risk exposure on corporate regulatory intensity. The finding suggests that more corporate exposure to biodiversity risk increases the regulatory intensity and cost of regulatory compliance. Further empirical analysis suggests that the impact of biodiversity risk exposure on regulatory intensity is less pronounced in firms with headquarters located in states with poorer institutions, and in vertically integrated firms.

    Studying the Nonlinear Optical Properties of Fluoride Laser Host Materials in the Ultraviolet Wavelength Region

    Fluoride host materials doped with trivalent cerium ions have previously been demonstrated as successful laser materials in the ultraviolet wavelength region. However, the nonlinear optical properties of the fluoride hosts in this wavelength region have not been investigated yet, although nonlinearity could result in undesirable effects such as self-focusing and pulse distortion when these fluoride materials are used as gain media in high-power, ultrashort pulse laser oscillator and amplifier systems. In this work, the nonlinear refractive index of lithium calcium aluminum fluoride (LiCaAlF6), lithium strontium aluminum fluoride (LiSrAlF6), lanthanum fluoride (LaF3), and yttrium lithium fluoride (YLiF4) fluoride host materials are determined using the Kramers–Krönig relation model in the ultraviolet wavelength region. Self-focusing conditions, particularly at the peak laser emission wavelength of these materials, are further analyzed. Results show that LiCaAlF6 has the smallest nonlinear refractive index and self-focusing, making it an ideal host material under the conditions of ultrashort pulse and ultrahigh-power laser generation.
