    Abstract
3D printing could revolutionize manufacturing and the way we live. This exciting new technology promises to put the power of on-demand manufacturing in every home, school and business. But, is it really a technology that anyone can use? Are the objects that it can make functional? What impact will a manufacturing increase of this magnitude have on the environment? This project explores the social relevance and functionality of desktop 3D printed objects and in cooperation with SCION (a New Zealand Crown Research Institute) seeks to develop new and more sustainable 3D printing materials.
